A specialist SEN school in Reading is seeking a dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to join its team as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity for graduates and experienced support staff who want to make a positive impact on pupils' learning, development and wellbeing.

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant , you will support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, potentially including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, communication difficulties and learning disabilities. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide tailored assistance that enables pupils to participate in lessons, develop independence and build confidence.

The role requires a patient, adaptable individual who can recognise different learning needs and respond appropriately. You will help create a structured and encouraging environment where pupils feel safe, supported and motivated to learn.

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.

Assisting teachers with differentiated activities and individual learning plans.

Supporting communication, social development and independent learning.

Helping pupils manage daily routines and transitions between activities.

Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

Working collaboratively with school staff to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.

This Specialist Teaching Assistant position offers valuable experience for individuals considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, occupational therapy or specialist SEN support.
