HGV 1 Shunter Driver (nights)

Location: Banbury

We are recruiting an experienced HGV Class 1 Shunter Driver to join our client's transport operation on a temp to perm basis. Full time 48 hours per week.

This role is ideal for a reliable and safety-conscious driver with a minimum of 6 months' HGV Class 1 driving experience, who is confident manoeuvring vehicles around a busy yard and positioning trailers safely on and off loading bays.

Pay Rates

• £18.50 - £23.00 per hour PAYE

Working Hours

• 48 hours per week
• Monday to Friday or Sunday to Thursday
• 18:00 - 03:30
• Overtime available

Key Responsibilities

• Safely shunting HGV Class 1 vehicles around the yard and positioning trailers on and off loading bays.
• Parking vehicles safely and ensuring they are ready for departure.
• Checking vehicle refrigeration units and freezer thermostats, reporting any faults promptly.
• Ensuring refrigeration units are set to the correct temperature and maintaining food safety and chill chain standards.
• Reporting vehicle damage, health and safety concerns, and any issues with the working environment.
• Maintaining regular communication with the Transport Department via handheld radio to ensure vehicles are available when required.
• Occasionally collecting vehicles from workshops and supporting the trunking operation when required.
• Completing other ad hoc duties as needed.

Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 1 driving licence.
• A strong commitment to health and safety.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a transport team.
• A reliable, flexible and safety-conscious approach to work.
