SLD Tutor

Job description

You''ll work with vulnerable young people, one at a time, on their terms - none of the teaching-at-scale trade-off, less admin, just one person and the part of teaching you care about. We''re recruiting experienced SEND tutors in Hampshire, £28 - £35 per hour , for one-to-one tuition with children and young people who''ve fallen out of mainstream education, or never been properly served by it.

What you get

Flexible schedule: Most placements are a few sessions a week (time-limited part-time engagements), with more hours sometimes available. Work not guaranteed; you choose your placements.

Work from home: Planning, prep, and reporting from home; hybrid placements available.

Tes CPD access: Unlimited Tes professional development library, plus our own SEMH-focused courses.

Specialist team behind you: SENDCos, Designated Safeguarding Leads, senior special-school leaders, and experienced tutors.

Community events: Online drop-ins, knowledge-sharing sessions, and a real tutor community.

How we work
We meet each young person where they are - engagement before attainment , child-led. We match, we don''t dictate. Trauma-informed tuition that''s transformative, not a gap filler - trusted by Local Authorities and schools across the UK.

Day to day

One-to-one tuition in English, Maths, or Science to children aged 4-18, referred by Local Authorities and schools.

Sessions typically 1-2 hours , in-person - often in the home, sometimes in school or a community setting, occasionally hybrid, usually within school hours.

Most learners have SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs ; many are out of school or at risk of being so.

Per-session reports supported by templates and your SEND Support Specialist.

You''ll need

Experience: 2+ years'' teaching or tutoring, including substantial hands-on work with SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs.

Qualification: QTS or QTLS, or an equivalent specialist teaching qualification.
