Design Systems and Template Designer

Between £45,000 and £65,000 Per Month

Job description

Template & Brand Systems Designer role based in Hemel Hempstead (Hybrid – 3 days/week in office) for Haven. The role is to build a scalable, self-serve template and brand systems ecosystem so the whole Haven team can create on‑brand assets independently, designing and building templates in Canva Enterprise, Smartly and similar tools. The position offers an annual salary plus bonus and benefits. The employer is part of the Bourne Leisure family (Haven & Warner Hotels) with 9,000 team members across 39 seaside locations and its HQ in Hemel Hempstead.

What you'll do

  • Design and build Haven's template ecosystem, creating reusable, brand-locked templates across Canva Enterprise, Smartly and beyond for menus, POS, signage, email, social and self-serve formats.
  • Define locked versus editable elements (colours, CTAs, pricing, imagery), set permissions, versioning and user roles to keep the system on‑brand by design.
  • Build logic, automation and training to enable category managers and park teams to create assets within brand boundaries; produce guidance and documentation for users.
  • Manage integrations between Canva Enterprise, Bynder DAM and Smartly, working with the Production Automation Manager to build data‑fed templates and automated workflows.
  • Establish QA standards, track template usage, refresh or retire templates based on usage, and partner with the Brand team to translate guidelines into machine‑enforceable rules.

What they're looking for

  • Strong design background with template systems expertise; experience building reusable template systems ideally in Canva Enterprise, Brand Kit or comparable tools such as Adobe Express, Figma design systems, or Bynder Studio.
  • Understanding of brand systems and component thinking, including locked versus editable elements and reusable components.
  • Experience enabling non-designers to self‑serve while maintaining brand governance.
  • Familiarity with data‑fed templates, dynamic fields and automation concepts; ability to think in systems and workflows.
  • Patient, clear communication skills to train, document for and support non‑technical users.
