Theatre Practitioner - Theatre / Recovery / Day Surgery in Glasgow Royal Infirmary/Stobhill Hospital
Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for NMC registered nurses to come and work within the Theatre departments in the North Sector of Glasgow.
There are 6 theatres in Stobhill ACH treating day surgical cases including specialist areas such as ophthalmology and new technical approached to orthopaedic surgery
The 22 Inpatient Theatres situated within Glasgow Royal Infirmary (voted the Best Scottish Hospital in 2021 and 2022 within the top 200 worldwide) support complex general and specialised surgery The North sector theatres also provide 2 emergency theatres on a 24/7 basis.
There are opportunities also in recovery areas in both hospital sites with educational opportunities to complete anaesthetic or Critical care courses.
We are seeking confident and assertive individuals who are keen to contribute to the delivery of high-quality nursing care and service development.
As a member of over 300 nursing staff in this department you will be exposed to one to one care, skills development and training opportunities to develop into a dual trained scrub nurse and anaesthetically trained Theatre Practitioner. During this period you will work in a team where one to one nursing is a priority and the patient is the centre of care within the Multi-disciplinary team.
The ability to work on your own initiative but also as part of an integrated team is required. You are required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a service which presently runs over a 7 day week in some Theatres and Recovery depending on hospital site.
Furthermore, you will be expected where necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde North Sector in order to achieve the needs of the service.
As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC/HCPC registration will be required prior to start date. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
The shift pattern is Monday - Friday 8.00am - 6.00pm with some areas working 11.53 shifts covering 24/7 periods e.g. Emergency Theatres and Recovery Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
