The Clinical Investigation Unit (CIU) contributes to the planned care pathway for patients by expediting investigations, tests and treatments requested by all specialities to prevent/delay admission to Acute Wards. The knowledge and skills for this unit are unique and have evolved as pathways, investigations and treatments have developed. CIU is a 5 day, elective nurse driven unit consisting of an Infusion Bay which also adheres to the ethos of admission prevention by providing timely treatment to acute and chronic conditions




An opportunity has arisen for two individuals to deliver high quality, patient focused care whilst leading a team to deliver a nurse driven model.

We are looking for degree educated individuals with a proven track record of exceptional care provision who will enjoy working in a fast paced, evolving environment. You should possess excellent interpersonal, professional and leadership skills; demonstrate initiative including the ability to incentivise staff in order to advance nursing practice.


Within your role you will be responsible for your own patient caseload, leading and managing the day to day work of the nursing team and the running of the ward including off duty management, infection control, Quality Assurance, health and safety management, sickness absence management and provide support of capacity and flow management for the site on a rotational basis .


The applicants must have the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all colleagues and specialities both within medicine and across the site. As a Charge Nurse with Clinical Skills you will exhibit strong leadership and management skills, influence and develop practice and take forward new initiatives.


You must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate a commitment to improving standards of patient care along with evidence of continuous professional development. Extended skills would be advantageous although you would be expected to achieve additional clinical skills as part of the role delivery.


Candidates should be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the NMC Register.
