Job description
Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: West Midlands/South West
Contract Type: Part-time (3 or 4 days per week - your choice), permanent
Salary: up to £45,000 + car allowance
Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team, providing assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for children with speech, language, communication, and feeding difficulties. You will work collaboratively with families, educators, and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, evidence-based therapy tailored to individual needs.
Primarily remote, with monthly visits to schools in Birmingham, Worcester, Gloucester, and South Wales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a specialist speech and language therapy perspective in the assessment, care and teaching of children and young people accessing our educational services.
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate individualised therapy programmes based on clinical need and best practice.
- Work in partnership with families, caregivers, schools, and other professionals to support therapy goals and ensure consistency across environments.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate clinical records, reports, and documentation in line with service policies and professional standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of integrated care plans.
- Provide training, advice, and support to parents, teachers, and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to service development, audit, and research initiatives where appropriate.
- Maintain and develop professional knowledge and skills through continuing professional development (CPD).
Person Specification: Essential:
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience working with children and/or young adults with a range of communication needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable:
- Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Experience working in educational settings or specialist provisions (e.g., autism, developmental language disorder).
- Training in relevant communication approaches (e.g., Makaton, PECS, AAC systems).
