The Company

OXBO are proud to be working with an innovative, market-leading International Solar & BESS IPP to add a Health & Safety Advisor to the team. In this role, you’ll lead efforts to maintain the highest HSE standards across the entire project lifecycle - from development and construction through to energisation.


Your focus will be on ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations while fostering a culture of safety among employees, contractors, suppliers, and consultants. This includes carrying out risk assessments, implementing best practices, and aligning operations with legal requirements and internal HSE systems.


The Role

  • Develop and implement HSE documentation in line with UK legislation, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
  • Advise and guide stakeholders on health, safety, and environmental best practices, promoting a positive HSE culture.
  • Plan and set HSE objectives, priorities, and performance standards for short and long-term goals.
  • Audit and review HSE systems to drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement control measures.
  • Monitor compliance through regular site inspections, ensuring adherence to regulations, policies, and CDM 2015 requirements.
  • Coordinate with project teams and contractors to ensure safe working practices.
  • Oversee PPE usage and enforce collective and personal protective measures.
  • Manage incident reporting and investigation, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Deliver HSE training programs, including inductions, toolbox talks, and specialised sessions.
  • Develop emergency plans and drills to ensure preparedness.
  • Act as point of contact for regulatory authorities during inspections and resolve compliance issues.
  • Participate in HSE meetings with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, training, and safety documentation.
  • Report monthly HSE KPIs to track performance and progress.


Requirements

  • A relevant third-level qualification in health and safety management, environment, engineering – construction sector or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as the NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Knowledge of ISO Management Systems: ISO 45001 and 14001.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years Health & Safety experience within the construction industry, preferably on large scale energy projects or HV projects.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and delivering health and safety training.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify hazards and recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in communication, resource management and the use of software, particularly Microsoft Office suite.
  • Valid driver's license for UK.
