Head of Fire Safety

Location: London (multi-site, with primary base in South Kensington)

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000

A leading London university is seeking an accomplished and strategic Head of Fire Safety to lead the development and delivery of fire safety strategy across its multi-campus estate.

This senior role will oversee fire safety operations, compliance, and risk management, ensuring the safety of staff, students, and visitors. You will act as the organisation’s lead expert on fire safety, working closely with senior leadership, estates teams, and external regulators, while managing a small professional team.

Key responsibilities:

• Developing and implementing a comprehensive fire safety strategy and risk management framework.
• Ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation and building regulations across a diverse and complex estate.
• Leading incident response and investigations, and advising on major projects and refurbishments.
• Building strong relationships with external regulators, fire authorities, and contractors.
• Providing leadership and professional development for the internal fire safety team.

About you:

• Proven experience in a senior fire safety role within a large, complex, multi-site organisation.
• Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation, risk assessment (PAS 79), and fire engineering principles.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Relevant professional qualifications in fire safety (NEBOSH or equivalent), level 4 minimum.
