Research Funding Officer in London Area

Job description

A London based University are recruiting for a Research Funding Officer to join their team on an interim basis. The post holder will join the pre-award team and will specialise in providing costings for research proposals, ensuring application meet both funder requirements and institutional policies.

Key duties include:

• Preparing and reviewing application budgets using TRAC/FEC methodology.
• Advising on funders’ terms and conditions.
• Managing the submission of funding applications.
• Maintaining accurate project data in research systems.
• Building strong relationships with researchers, professional staff, and funders.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of grant-funded research, including costing and pricing concepts (FEC), and awareness of the UK and international funding landscape.
• Experience constructing budgets and using financial management software, with the ability to interpret and analyse financial information.
• Understanding of organisational processes for pre-award grant administration.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to non-specialists.
• Based within a commutable distance to London, with willingness to work on-site once a week

Salary: £42,000 – paid on an hourly rate equivalent

Hours per week: 35

Location: London

Contract length: Until Jan 2026, with the possibility to extend
