SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism Support (Year 1)

Contract: Temporary to Permanent

Hours: Full-time, Term-time only

Our agency is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Lewisham. This role involves providing 1:1 and small group support to two Year 1 pupils with Autism, helping them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with class teachers to support two children with Autism in Year 1.
• Provide tailored support to meet individual learning and social development needs.
• Implement strategies to encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
• Assist with classroom activities, interventions, and resource preparation.
• Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Requirements:

• Experience working with children with Autism or other additional needs (essential).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, caring, and adaptable approach.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow guidance from teachers and SENCO.
• A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply).
