SEND Teaching Assistant – SEN Primary School (Autism) – Northwich


Salary: £105 – £110 per day, paid weekly

Contract: Full-time, long-term role with strong temp-to-perm potential


Hirecracker Education are working with a specialist SEN primary school in Northwich supporting children with autism. We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join the team and provide tailored support to pupils, helping them access the curriculum, develop independence, and build confidence in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.

What you’ll be doing:


  • Supporting pupils with autism in the classroom, adapting approaches to meet individual sensory, communication, and learning needs
  • Delivering 1:1 or small group interventions focused on personalised learning, social skills, and emotional regulation
  • Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development using positive reinforcement and consistent strategies
  • Encouraging independence, self-confidence, and positive peer interactions through tailored support and guidance
  • Helping maintain a calm, safe, and structured classroom environment that promotes focus, engagement, and inclusion


Requirements:


  • Experience working with children or young people in school, SEN, autism support, care, mental health, therapeutic, community settings or other relevant fields
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Understanding of autism-specific strategies, communication approaches, and sensory needs
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children with additional and complex needs
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
