SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND Provision

Milk Education is recruiting on behalf of a highly respected specialist SEND provision in Tottenham that supports pupils with complex learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), communication difficulties, sensory processing needs, physical disabilities, and medical requirements. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment where pupils benefit from personalised support delivered by a skilled multidisciplinary team.
We are looking for a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a day-to-day, term-time basis, with the opportunity for the role to progress into a long-term or permanent position for the right person.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, highly rewarding position supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs. You’ll work closely with teachers, therapists, and specialist support staff to deliver individualised learning programmes, communication strategies, and regulation support. The ideal candidate will be calm, confident, patient, and able to follow consistent routines to help pupils feel safe and ready to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex SEND
- Using visual communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables
- Supporting sensory needs through structured breaks, personalised sensory resources, and environment adaptations
- Assisting with personal care, mobility support, and medical routines where required
- Helping deliver adapted lessons in communication, social development, life skills, literacy, and numeracy
- Using positive behaviour support strategies to help pupils manage anxiety, transitions, and emotional regulation
- Working collaboratively with teachers and therapists to follow individualised programmes
- Maintaining safeguarding standards and delivering care with professionalism and empathy
