Teaching Assistant Nursery Practitioner

Location: Liverpool (St Helens)

Milk Education is urgently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing and forward-thinking school-based nursery in the Liverpool (St Helens) area. This full-time position is based in the baby room and suits someone with strong early years experience who can start quickly.


About the Setting:

The nursery employs a blended approach to early education, combining child-initiated exploration with purposeful adult-led learning. Continuous provision is planned with care so each child can access a rich and engaging curriculum indoors and outdoors. The environment is communication-friendly, supportive and inclusive, helping children feel safe, confident and ready to grow.

The Role of Teaching Assistant Nursery Practitioner:


You will work with babies from around nine months old and support their social, emotional, physical and early academic development. You will build warm interactions, encourage curiosity and guide children toward early milestones through sensory activities, outdoor learning and play-based experiences.


Key Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant Nursery Practitioner:

• Provide high-quality care and support for babies

• Deliver activities linked to the EYFS and tailored to individual needs

• Encourage outdoor learning and exploration

• Act as a Key Person and build strong relationships with families

• Observe and record children’s progress

• Maintain a safe, calm and well-organised environment

• Promote an inclusive atmosphere where every child is valued

• Follow safeguarding policies at all times


Requirements to be a Teaching Assistant Nursery Practitioner:

• Experience in a nursery setting, ideally with babies

• Warm, caring and responsive approach

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Good understanding of EYFS, child development and safeguarding

• Ability to support a play-based, child-led curriculum
