Salary: Up to £50,000

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic leader who thrives in a small, nurturing environment and wants to make a significant impact. The Assistant Head will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the school while maintaining meaningful classroom contact.

Key Responsibilities

• Balance leadership duties with a teaching commitment.
• Oversee high-quality teaching and learning across the school.
• Drive curriculum development, ensuring it meets the needs of our SEMH learners.
• Lead and support CPD initiatives for staff.
• Conduct learning walks and provide feedback to develop teaching practice.
• Manage small teaching teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and positive staff culture.
• Contribute to strategic planning and support the Headteacher in the continued improvement and expansion of the school.

About You

• Hold a QTS or equivalent qualification
• Proven experience leading or developing a team, within a specialist SEN/SEMH setting.
• The ability to inspire, coach, and support colleagues to deliver high-quality teaching.
• A track record of contributing to whole-school improvement, teaching and learning initiatives, or curriculum development.
• Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to balance classroom commitments with leadership responsibilities.
• A reflective, resilient, and relational approach to working with both students and staff.
