Job description
We are recruiting a Mechanical Engineer / Technician from an HGV, plant, forklift, bus or construction background to join an aviation ground equipment maintenance team. You do not need previous GSE experience – full training will be provided.
This is a hands-on role working on specialist airport equipment that directly supports aircraft operations.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Service, inspect and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical systems (12/24V)
- Diagnose faults using schematics and technical manuals
- Attend breakdowns on airport sites and complete service documentation
- Work safely to procedures and aviation standards
Ideal Background
- Experience in HGV, plant, forklifts, buses, construction equipment or similar
- Strong mechanical & hydraulic knowledge with basic auto-electrics
- Comfortable reading drawings and fault-finding
- Class 1 HGV Licence and full UK driving licence
- Based within commuting distance of Gatwick
