Power / Refinery / COMAH Mechanical Engineer £73k plus car bonus pension
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to mechanical asset optimisation projects across England, including supporting planned and unplanned outages.
- Provide expert mechanical engineering advice across heat and power assets, auxiliary plant, and mechanical pipework systems.
- Support the development and delivery of risk-based maintenance strategies and ensure compliance with PSSR and national standards.
- Assist with mechanical and boiler maintenance contract management, including technical input into procurement and contractor performance reviews.
- Define and deliver mechanical engineering solutions to improve asset performance within defined project budgets and objectives.
- Act as a Technical Authority for mechanical asset governance, supporting the update of IMS documents and safety rules.
- Collaborate closely with O&M teams, Design teams, and other teams to foster a culture of Process Safety and continuous improvement.
- Support incident investigations, Panels of Inquiry, and lessons learned exercises across Renewables sites.
- Ensure all work is aligned with financial standards and procurement principles.
What we need from you
- A relevant Mechanical Engineering degree, HNC, or equivalent.
- Significant experience with boilers and auxiliary mechanical plant in the power or heat generation sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of PSSR regulations and guidance for steam and hot water boilers.
- Proven experience delivering engineering projects and working within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to diagnose operational problems, develop innovative solutions, and manage contracts.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and produce clear reports.
- Business financial awareness and experience managing project budgets.
