Home Manager
Compass Associates is looking for a Home Manager
Job description
Registered Home Manager
Residential & Dementia Care – Ipswich, Suffolk
£65,000 – £75,000 per annum + Bonus
A Leadership Appointment
Compass Associates have partnered exclusively with a leading, well-established care home provider to appoint an experienced Registered Home Manager for a purpose-built residential and dementia care service located in Ipswich, Suffolk.
This is a standout leadership opportunity within a large, modern care home (circa 75+ beds) offering residential, dementia, and palliative care, alongside an enhanced assisted living provision. The service benefits from a strong reputation, a settled workforce, and a recent Good CQC rating across all domains, reflecting a stable and well-run operation.
The home is set within a quiet residential area, providing a calm, safe, and welcoming environment while remaining well connected to surrounding towns and communities.
The Opportunity
This is a planned leadership appointment, not a turnaround. The incoming Manager will inherit a motivated and experienced team, robust systems, and excellent regional and central support.
You will have the autonomy to lead day-to-day operations while continuing to build on existing strengths driving quality, occupancy, and staff engagement within a supportive and well-governed organisation.
The service is bright, spacious, and thoughtfully designed, with high-quality en-suite accommodation, dedicated dementia areas, strong communal spaces, and a clear focus on dignity, independence, and person-centred living.
Why This Role Is Unique
- Lead a large, purpose-built care home with strong infrastructure and support
- Join a provider with a Good-rated service and a positive compliance history
- Manage a stable, experienced staff team with low reliance on agency
- Oversee a diverse care offering, including residential, dementia, and palliative care
- Enjoy autonomy and trust, backed by an experienced regional leadership team
- Focus on quality, culture, and continuous improvement — not firefighting
- This role will suit a confident, values-led leader who enjoys visibility within the home and takes pride in delivering high-quality, relationship-led care.
The Role
As Registered Home Manager, you will:
- Provide strong, visible leadership across all aspects of residential and dementia care
- Ensure full compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding standards, and internal quality frameworks
- Lead, develop, and retain a multidisciplinary team, embedding a positive and accountable culture
- Oversee operational performance, including occupancy, budgets, staffing, and quality outcomes
- Build trusted relationships with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and commissioners
- Promote continuous improvement and innovation in care delivery
- You will play a key role in maintaining a calm, homely environment while ensuring residents receive safe, dignified, and personalised care.
About You
We are seeking a Registered Home Manager with:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Proven experience managing residential and/or dementia care homes
- A strong understanding of CQC compliance and inspection readiness
- Excellent leadership, communication, and people-management skills
- Confidence managing larger services and complex care environments
- A genuine commitment to person-centred care and team development
- You will be approachable, organised, and visible — someone who leads by example and inspires confidence across the service.
What’s On Offer
- £65,000 – £75,000 basic salary
- Performance-related bonus
- Strong regional and central support structure
- Autonomy to lead a high-quality, established service
- Long-term career progression within a respected care home group
Location
The service is located in Ipswich, set within a quiet residential area that offers a calm, community-focused environment while remaining highly accessible. Due to the residential setting of the service, access to your own transport is recommended to support ease of travel.
Ipswich provides an excellent balance of professional opportunity and lifestyle, with strong local amenities, green spaces, and the Suffolk countryside and coastline nearby.
The area benefits from:
- Excellent road links via the A12 and A14, connecting easily to Colchester, Bury St Edmunds, Felixstowe, and surrounding towns
- Rail connections from Ipswich station, offering direct services to London Liverpool Street
- A well-established local healthcare network and strong community infrastructure
- This location makes the role suitable for candidates based across Ipswich, Colchester, Stowmarket, Bury St Edmunds, and wider Suffolk and North Essex.

This appointment is being conducted on a confidential basis. Informal discussions and site visits can be arranged ahead of formal interviews.
