Junior Mechanical Engineer

FloatSync. is looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer

Job description

Junior Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d) – Prototyping & Product Development

Location: London @Blue Garage | Start-up | Full-time

Do you want to build real products instead of spending years on PowerPoint slides and theories? Do you enjoy getting your hands dirty and turning ideas into something good for the environment that you can touch and test?

Then you might be exactly who we’re looking for.

We’re FloatSync, a growing London-based start-up, developing a novel plastic sorting technology, taking it from first concept to market-ready solutions. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d) who enjoys taking ownership, working hands-on with hardware, and transforming ideas into functional prototypes.

Backed by Carbon 13, we’re preparing to deploy our first full system for pilot testing later this year, a major step toward commercial rollout and real-world impact.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design and development of mechanical components and systems
  • Building, testing, and iterating prototypes (hands-on work is key)
  • Turning ideas and concepts into manufacturable, real-world products
  • Close collaboration with engineering and science team
  • Involvement across the entire development cycle – from sketch to finished product

Your Profile

  • Strong academic background in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Ideally some initial experience in prototyping, product development, and rapid manufacturing
  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Pro Eng. Or similar). The preference is Solidworks.
  • Hands-on mindset – you’re not afraid to pick up tools and build things yourself
  • Creative, solution-oriented, and curious.
  • High degree of autonomy and self-motivation
  • Good English skills (working language is English)

What We Offer

  • A dynamic start-up environment with fast decision-making
  • High level of responsibility and real impact on the product
  • Modern co-working space, workshop and prototyping facilities
  • An international team based mainly at Blue Garage in London
  • Opportunities to personally oversee all installations from local deployment to opportunities currently in Kenya, Indonesia and Philippines.
  • £30,000.00 ~ £40,000.00 per annum D.O.E plus stock options
  • 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays (pro-rata)

Sounds like a good fit? We’d love to hear from you – please send us your CV and include examples of projects or prototypes you’ve worked on to careers@floatsync.org

At this stage of our company's growth, we cannot offer relocation or visa sponsorship and you must be eligible to work in the UK without restriction.
