Location: London (Hybrid – 1–2 days per week in the office)


Contract: Permanent


Salary: £36,000 per annum

The Role


We are seeking an experienced HR Officer to join our collaborative HR team. This is a broad generalist role, well suited to someone from a professional body, membership organisation, regulator, or similar environment.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality HR support across the full employee lifecycle, with particular responsibility for end-to-end recruitment and liaison with external payroll providers.

Key Responsibilities


HR Operations & Advisory


  • Provide first-line HR advice to managers and employees on policies, procedures and employment matters
  • Support employee relations casework, including absence management, performance, disciplinary and grievance processes
  • Ensure HR policies are applied consistently and in line with employment legislation and best practice


Recruitment & Onboarding


  • Manage end-to-end recruitment across the organisation, including role scoping, drafting job descriptions, advertising, shortlisting, coordinating interviews and issuing offers
  • Work closely with hiring managers to deliver efficient, high-quality recruitment processes
  • Lead onboarding processes to ensure a positive and compliant new-starter experience


Payroll & People Administration


  • Act as the key point of contact for the external payroll provider, ensuring accurate and timely submission of payroll data
  • Process monthly payroll changes, including starters, leavers, contractual changes and absence data
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems
  • Produce contracts, HR letters, reports and management information


Learning, Development & Engagement


  • Support learning and development activities and organisational initiatives
  • Assist with performance review processes and employee engagement activity


Compliance & Continuous Improvement


  • Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation and organisational governance requirements
  • Contribute to HR projects, audits and process improvements


Person Specification


Essential

  • Proven experience in an HR Officer or similar generalist HR role
  • Demonstrable experience managing end-to-end recruitment processes
  • Experience working with external payroll providers and supporting payroll processes
  • Background within a professional body, membership organisation, regulator, charity, or similar environment
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law
  • Confident handling employee relations matters with discretion and professionalism
  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills


Desirable

  • CIPD Level 5 (or working towards)
  • Experience working in a hybrid or flexible working environment
  • Strong HR systems and reporting experience
