A leading European defence organisation specialising in the design and integration of advanced land-defence systems, combining innovation, precision engineering and a strong focus on operational excellence.
The organisation delivers complex, mission-critical solutions, maintaining high technical and quality standards while meeting stringent customer and regulatory requirements whilst driving continuous engineering improvement. This position is to play a leading role in the engineering team, performing technical analysis and developing concepts for heavy industry / fabricated metallic products.
Mechanical Engineer
£50 - £60k + Pension, Life Assurance, Flexi-Time - CENG Support

Mechanical Engineer - The Role:
- Technical analysis and concept development within the Engineering team.
- Take responsibility for the structural integrity of hydraulic systems, ensuring compliance with customer, legislative and safety requirements.
- Perform stress, fatigue and non-linear FEA calculations to support design decisions.
- Produce test specifications, acceptance criteria and technical reports.
- Apply relevant standards and design criteria, including Eurocodes.
- Oversee in-house and outsourced engineering activities and conduct design reviews.
- Liaise with customers to confirm scope, manage deliverables and support project delivery.
- Plan and manage engineering programmes, workloads and resources.
- Investigate non-conforming products and drive problem resolution and continuous improvement.
- Support the training and development of engineering staff.
Mechanical Engineer - The Person:
- Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline, with Chartered status desirable.
- Strong knowledge of structural behaviour, materials and fatigue performance.
- Ability to use 3D modelling software - Spaceclaim highly advantageous
- Familiar with fabricated aluminium and steel structures and manufacturing processes.
- Experienced in the use of ANSYS FEA Simulation software
- Strong analytical, communication and technical reporting skills.
- Well-organised, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- German language skills advantageous.
