Part time Educational Psychologist (Locum Role 4 days)


Pay Rate: £600 per day

Location: Cheshire West and Chester primarily Ellesmere Port

Start Date: ASAP


Working Style: Flexible work across locations within the borough as required.


Job Purpose

  • To provide an applied psychology service to schools, early years settings, families, young people, the wider community, and the Local Authority.
  • The role focuses on implementing psychologically informed strategies and interventions that promote inclusion and maximise outcomes for children and young people.
  • You will also contribute to multi-agency partnerships and support schools in meeting SEND legislation requirements, helping deliver effective local and national educational strategies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a consultative psychological service to schools and early years settings in identifying and supporting children with additional and special educational needs.
  • Deliver high-quality psychological advice for Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessments.
  • Apply evidence-based psychological approaches to support individuals and groups.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, families, and multi-agency partners.
  • Support schools in raising attainment, improving emotional wellbeing, and reducing exclusions.
  • Deliver training and guidance to schools, parents, carers, and professionals.
  • Contribute to local authority SEND strategies and policy implementation.
  • Support schools identified by Ofsted or the Local Authority as causing concern.
  • Maintain knowledge of current research and evidence-based interventions.
  • Contribute to the performance targets of the Psychology Team.


Essential Requirements

  • Postgraduate professional qualification in Educational Psychology
  • Honours degree in Psychology (conferring Graduate Basis for Registration with the BPS)
  • Evidence of recent professional development
  • HCPC registration (or eligible once qualified)


Experience

  • Experience contributing to EHCNA / EHCP assessments
  • Experience working within multi-agency environments
  • Experience conducting research, evaluation, or service development
  • Experience monitoring and evaluating outcomes against targets


Knowledge

  • Consultation models and psychological assessment techniques
  • Current education policy and SEND legislation
  • Safeguarding and child protection frameworks
  • Inclusive approaches to improving attendance, attainment and achievement


Skills

  • Excellent communication and report writing
  • Strong data analysis and evaluation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Confident use of IT systems


Other Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS
  • Ability to travel across Cheshire West and Chester
