Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Accrington (On‑site)
Join a specialist engineering team designing and delivering advanced, bespoke machinery used across multiple industries. This is a hands‑on mechanical design role where you’ll take concepts from initial idea through to manufacture, test and customer delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Creating conceptual and detailed mechanical designs for bespoke machinery.
- Ensuring compliance with Machinery Directive and relevant standards.
- Carrying out Risk Assessments, FMEA and engineering calculations.
- Supporting design reviews and contributing to technical discussions.
- Preparing required technical and legislative documentation.
- Liaising with customers and suppliers on project requirements.
- Producing content for operation and maintenance manuals.
- Designing components suitable for cost‑effective manufacture.
- Supporting mechanical build teams during assembly, testing and commissioning.
- Providing customer support when needed.
- Promoting safe working practices across all engineering activities.
What We’re Looking For
- Mechanical design experience within machinery, automation or bespoke equipment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and calculations.
- Experience with FEA, risk assessment and FMEA.
- Knowledge of Machinery Directive compliance.
- Confident working with cross‑functional engineering teams.
- Strong communication skills, including customer and supplier liaison.
- CAD proficiency and experience designing for manufacture (DFM).
