Mechanical Engineer

Job description

We’re currently supporting a leading engineering organisation in the offshore energy sector in their search for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in high-reliability mechanical design for harsh environments. This is an initial 12-month contract working on the design and development of subsea connector systems used in offshore applications. The role will start fully onsite in Barrow-In-Furness while you get up to speed, moving to a hybrid model (3 days onsite) once established.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance subsea connector solutions
• Produce 3D CAD models and detailed 2D engineering drawings
• Perform mechanical calculations and FEA analysis
• Support pressure-rated and sealed mechanical designs
• Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver robust technical solutions
• Ensure designs meet industry standards and safety requirements

Required Experience

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
• Strong experience using 3D CAD and FEA tools
• Experience producing technical engineering drawings
• Good understanding of mechanical fundamentals and calculations
• Knowledge of sealing technologies and pressure-rated systems
• Familiarity with standards such as API, ISO, ASME, IEC or IEEE

• Location: Cumbria – Barrow-In-Furness Business Park
• Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week
• Hybrid: Available after onboarding
• Rate: Open / dependent on experience
• Start Date: April 2026
