Sales Assistant

Job description

At Alchemy we are working with a contemporary art and design gallery who are seeking a Sales Assistant to join its London team. The successful candidate will have 1–3 years' experience within a commercial gallery or comparable art‐world environment, and will support sales activity, client engagement, and the smooth day‐to‐day running of the gallery. Working closely with senior colleagues, this role requires a high level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail, alongside a strong interest in contemporary art and the gallery sector.

Key Responsibilities

Support sales administration, including maintaining and updating client records and artwork information using Artlogic

Assist with client communications and respond to general sales enquiries

Act as front of house, welcoming visitors and confidently providing information on artworks and artists

Assist with the planning, installation, and deinstallation of exhibitions

Support the organisation of private views, events, and participation in art fairs

Provide general administrative, logistical, and operational support to the gallery team

Assist with basic logistics tasks, including tracking shipments, preparing documentation, and condition checking works

Requirements

1–3 years' experience in a commercial gallery or related art‐world role

Professional, polished, and discreet client‐facing manner

Strong interest in contemporary art and the gallery ecosystem

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Familiarity with Artlogic and ArtAML procedures preferred

Additional languages advantageous
