Senior Support WorkerSalary - £32k to £34k per annum + Overtime

About usBrook Street Social Care are partnered up with a great childcare provider, who have recently opened their third home. This exciting time, has led to the opening for a Senior Support Worker to join the team. The homes are all located within the Croydon borough, and have great transport links. The homes are all fully refurbished properties, which offer the children a warm, homely environment, with both indoor and outdoor space. The homes are designed to enable children to flourish and develop in a warm and nurturing environment. This is central to the homes ethos. Job PurposeProvide high-quality, child-centred support, acting as a positive role model. Help children overcome challenges, including trauma, and support their wellbeing, education, and development towards independence.

Key Responsibilities

Support children in line with their care and placement plans

Promote dignity, respect, and a safe, inclusive environment

Encourage participation in daily routines, education, and activities

Support emotional wellbeing and implement therapeutic plans

Manage behaviour using trauma-informed approaches

Work collaboratively with the team and external professionals

Act as a key worker and advocate for children in meetings

Safeguard children and promote their welfare at all times

Maintain accurate records and complete reports

Support daily tasks within the home (e.g. Cooking, cleaning)

Participate in shifts, including sleep‐ins and on‐call duties

Engage in training, supervision, and professional development

Requirements

NVQ level 3 in residential childcare / children young people workforce, or equivalent

Experience leading support workers on shift, within a residential children home setting

Experience supporting children with LD, EBD, or mental health needs

Understanding of trauma-informed care

Strong communication and teamwork skills
