Mental Health Recovery WorkerJoin us as a Mental Health Recovery Worker and play a vital role in providing compassionate mental health recovery support at our Portland Road residential service.
Position: Support Worker (Internal title- Mental Health Recovery Worker)
Location: Hove, Portland Road
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 26 Hours per week
Salary: £26,040 full time equivalent annual salary (£18,179 including antisocial hours enhancement and sleep‐in rate for part time pro rata salary to 26 hours)

About the Archway ServiceArchway comprises three 24‐hour Mental Health residential homes in Hove. We offer holistic, person‐centered, and recovery‐focused support to clients with their Mental Health. We work closely with the NHS to help clients understand their mental health, stay safe, and progress toward meaningful, independent living.
The Archway Residential homes are:
9 Portland Road is a 9‐bed service providing long term placements for people requiring care and support with the aim of helping clients move on to less supported accommodation.
57 Sackville Gardens (Step-Down) is a 5‐bed service providing short-term (up to 16 weeks), intensive support for people who are medically fit to leave hospital and need support to develop their independence to move into longer-term accommodation.
59 Sackville Gardens is a 5‐bed service next door to Step-Down providing long term placements for people requiring residential care and support with the aim of helping clients move on to less supported accommodation.
What You Will Do
Build positive, trusting professional relationships with clients and act as a keyworker for an allocated caseload.
Support clients using trauma‐informed, person‐centred, and recovery‐focused approaches.
Help clients develop daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, and self‐care.
Co‐create personalised support plans and risk/safety plans that promote autonomy and wellbeing.
Assist clients to progress move‐on plans to more independent accommodation.
Support the smooth day‐to‐day running of the service including domestic tasks, meal provision, and maintaining safe, homely environments.
Encourage client engagement and co‐production within the service.
Participate in a rolling rota including day shifts, sleeping nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Rota & Working HoursThis role operates on a two‐week rolling rota with alternate weekends off.
Early: 09:00–17:00
Late: 11:00–19:00
Night/Sleep‐in: 16:00–22:00 awake, 22:00–08:00 sleeping, 08:00–10:00 awake (18‐hour shift)

Training, Support & DevelopmentYou will receive comprehensive induction training followed by structured training during your first 6–12 months, plus access to specialist training thereafter.
Person SpecificationTo be successful in the role of Support Worker you will need to have great communication skills and be committed to the values of BHT Sussex. Some of the key skills and experience you will need to bring with you include:
Experience providing emotional and practical support to vulnerable adults (transferable skills considered).
Ability to deliver person‐centred, co‐produced support and risk planning.
Sound judgement in safety planning and risk management.
Commitment to empowering clients and promoting independence.
