Clinical Negligence Solicitor (Defendant) | 2–7 PQE | Award-Winning Team | London | £60,000 - £75,000


This leading team is looking for a Clinical Negligence Solicitor to work on high-profile defendant matters within the London office of nationally recognised, award-winning offering?


This is a standout opportunity to join a top Healthcare practice acting for public healthcare organisations including NHS Resolution as well as major insurers, offering exposure to complex, sensitive and high-value claims alongside genuine career progression.

Role overview


You will manage your own caseload of defendant clinical negligence matters, working as part of a collaborative and high-performing team.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Running clinical negligence files from inception through to resolution
  • Drafting reports, witness statements and key legal documentation
  • Interviewing witnesses and liaising with experts and counsel
  • Attending Court hearings, including Case Management Conferences and applications
  • Negotiating settlements and attending mediations
  • Preparing cases for trial and attending hearings where required


You will also play a broader role within the team, including:


  • Delivering client training and drafting thought leadership articles
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Supporting business development initiatives
  • Supervising and mentoring junior team members (where appropriate)
  • Contributing to the continued growth and success of the Healthcare practice


Experienced lawyers with 2 PQE +


You will be a qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with 2–7 years’ PQE and experience in defendant clinical negligence work.


You will also demonstrate:


  • The ability to manage your own caseload with confidence and autonomy
  • Strong drafting, analytical and communication skills
  • A proactive, pragmatic and detail-focused approach
  • Understanding of client expectations, KPIs and regulatory requirements
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively, including in a hybrid/remote environment


Candidates with strong claimant experience who are looking to move into defendant work will also be considered.
