Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team within the defence industry. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects, developing robust mechanical solutions designed for demanding environments. You will be involved across the full product lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to manufacture and integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical design and development of components and assemblies using CAD tools
• Designing for manufacture, including machining, welding, and fabrication processes
• Supporting thermal simulation and thermal modelling activities
• Managing design data and documentation using PDM systems
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including electronics and manufacturing
• Supporting prototype build, testing, and design iteration activities

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience using a CAD package, ideally SolidWorks, or alternatives such as CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD
• Strong background in mechanical design, manufacturing, and Design for Manufacture (DFM)
• Experience designing components for welding and fabrication
• Exposure to thermal simulation or thermal modelling
• Experience using, or a basic understanding of, PDM (Product Data Management) systems
• Experience designing mechanical systems that integrate with electronics and PCBs
• Exposure to additive manufacturing techniques
