Domiciliary Carer (Home Care Worker)

Community-based (service users’ homes)

To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals in their own homes, promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing while ensuring all care is delivered in line with agreed care plans and regulatory standards.

  • Deliver personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and grooming
  • Support with medication administration (where trained)
  • Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration
  • Provide companionship and emotional support
  • Support with mobility, including use of hoists and equipment (where trained)
  • Carry out light household duties (cleaning, laundry, shopping)
  • Maintain accurate care records and report any changes in service users’ conditions
  • Follow care plans and risk assessments at all times
  • Promote independence and encourage service users to make their own choices
  • Safeguard service users and report any concerns in line with policies
  • Previous experience in care is essential
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding and person-centred care
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (desirable)
  • Willingness to complete training and ongoing professional development
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (often essential)
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Enhanced DBS check required
