Job description
MPA are currently recruiting a Senior Care Assistant for a well-established, family-run care centre. The successful candidate will support residents with personal and social care needs while helping to lead and supervise care staff on shift.
You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of care are maintained, supporting the implementation of care plans, and promoting residents dignity, independence, and wellbeing. This role requires someone with strong communication and leadership skills who is committed to providing compassionate and professional care.
DUTIES:
Care Delivery
- Provide high-quality personal and social care in accordance with residents individual care plans.
- Promote dignity, respect, and independence for all residents.
- Monitor residents physical and mental wellbeing and report any concerns appropriately.
- Assist with the safe management of medications in line with policies and regulations.
Leadership & Team Support
- Act as a role model for care staff, providing guidance and support when required.
- Supervise care and ancillary staff in the absence of the Registered Manager or Deputy Manager.
- Ensure staff work effectively to deliver the highest standards of care.
Health & Safety
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control throughout the home.
- Ensure equipment is used safely and report any faults immediately.
Communication & Record Keeping
- Maintain clear communication with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Ensure accurate documentation and record keeping in line with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in daily handovers, team meetings, and resident meetings.
Training & Development
- Maintain registration with the NI Social Care Council (NISCC).
- Attend mandatory training and ongoing professional development.
- Support the induction and development of new staff members.
Essential Criteria
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Current NISCC registration
- Minimum 2 years experience working as a Care Assistant
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Knowledge of elderly care, physical disabilities, and mental health conditions
- Understanding of RQIA standards within care settings

Desirable
- Experience of caring for older people in a care home setting or other formal setting
- Specific training in physical disability/ mental health disorder, learning disability and/or dementia care
- An understanding of the concerns and issues as regards mental health disorder and dementia care
- A full and clean driving license
