Principal Mechanical Engineer - Building Infrastructure

Offices UK wide (Hybrid – 2 day per week in the office)

£70,000 - £80,000 + car allowance and benefits


A leading global engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join its growing design team. This is a hybrid role, with 2 days per week in the office and flexibility to be based from multiple locations across the UK.


This is an excellent opportunity to take a lead role on high-profile, multidisciplinary projects across sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, and education.


The Role

You will lead the delivery of mechanical building services design on complex projects, ensuring high-quality, integrated solutions. Working closely with other disciplines, you’ll play a key role in coordinating designs and presenting technical solutions to clients.


You will also:

  • Lead and manage project teams (up to 10 engineers)
  • Provide technical guidance and mentor junior staff
  • Oversee project delivery and resolve technical challenges
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle


About You

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
  • Strong experience in building services mechanical design (essential)
  • Consultancy background
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
