Part Time - Design & Technology (DT) Teacher

Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire

Job Type: Part Time

Start Date: ASAP - July 2026 (with a potential for extension)

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Design & Technology Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Chesterfield. This is a Part-time position, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday half day AM, ideal for a teacher who is enthusiastic about inspiring students through practical learning, creativity, and innovation within the DT curriculum.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering students’ confidence, problem-solving skills, and technical ability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Design & Technology lessons that engage and challenge students.
  • Teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5 experience desirable but not essential).
  • Support students in developing practical skills, creativity, and design thinking.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a safe and organised workshop/classroom environment.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities within the DT department.
  • The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Has experience teaching Design & Technology in a secondary school setting.
  • Demonstrates strong subject knowledge (e.g., product design, resistant materials, engineering, or similar).
  • Is passionate about practical learning and student achievement.
  • Has strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Works well as part of a collaborative team.
