Scope of the role

The Mechanical Design Engineer supports end-to-end development, partnering with nearby suppliers to accelerate learning and delivery.

• Create SolidWorks 3D CAD and detailed drawings for production.
• Design plastic components for injection moulding and assembly automation.
• Prototype, plan tests, analyse results and iterate.
• Support DFM and tolerance discussions with suppliers.
• Collaborate with electronics, firmware and industrial design colleagues.

Key skills and experience required

• Proven project work as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Design Engineer.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university.
• SolidWorks proficiency, sound drawings practice, and tolerance stacks.
• DFM for injection moulding; exposure to FEA and hand calculations.

Salary and benefits

• £35,000–£40,000 basic salary.
• Paid overtime and flexitime around core hours 10:00–15:00.
• 22 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, rising to 25.
