Locum Occupational Therapist – Adult Social Care (North West London)
- We are currently recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join a busy and supportive Adult Social Care team within a local authority setting.
- This opportunity is ideal for a confident OT with strong Adult Social Care experience who is able to work independently, manage a complex caseload and deliver high-quality, person-centred interventions.
- As part of the team, you will support adults aged 18+ with disabilities to maximise independence, reduce risk and achieve safe outcomes through specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete Care Act-compliant Occupational Therapy assessments for adults aged 18+
- Assess risk and apply sound clinical reasoning to support safe and appropriate outcomes
- Recommend and prescribe simple and complex equipment
- Complete associated risk assessments linked to equipment provision
- Undertake Manual Handling assessments and provide moving and handling recommendations
- Assess for major adaptations in line with statutory eligibility criteria
- Support and contribute to Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) processes
- Participate in duty triage on a rota basis, including screening referrals and prioritising urgent cases
- Maintain accurate and timely case recording
- Work collaboratively with service users, carers, health professionals, housing teams and partner agencies
Essential Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
HCPC Registration
Substantial recent Adult Social Care experience within a local authority setting
Proven experience completing:
- Care Act assessments
- Risk assessments
- Manual Handling assessments
- Simple and complex equipment provision
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Major adaptation eligibility criteria
- Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) processes
- Equipment provision criteria
- Ability to independently manage a complex caseload
- Full-time availability (essential)
