Role SummaryThese posts are ideal for candidates who are looking to gain experience in obstetrics and gynaecology before obtaining a training post. The clinical fellow will work at ST1/2 level, providing ward cover on the antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology wards under supervision and allocated on‐call sessions on the delivery suite.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe fellow will be trained in the fetal physiology approach to intrapartum monitoring and the use of STAN monitoring, attend and present at weekly departmental CTG and perinatal meetings, attend gynaecology multidisciplinary meetings in oncology and acute gynaecology, and be encouraged to undertake clinical audit and contribute to the development of local guidelines.
ScheduleThe fellow will work as part of a 1 in 8 rota Monday to Friday 08:00‐16:00. A typical 8‐week cycle will contain:
Long days each week covering either obstetrics or gynaecology
One weekend of long days (08:00‐20:00 Saturday and Sunday) covering obstetrics and gynaecology
One weekend of nights (20:00‐08:30 Friday‐Sunday) covering obstetrics and gynaecology
'Standard' days covering wards, theatres, Acute Gynaecology Unit and clinics
