Secondary Behaviour Support Assistant – Full-Time | Merthyr and AberdareDaily Pay: £93

We're seeking a Secondary Behaviour Support Assistant to work across schools in Merthyr and Aberdare supporting pupils who require additional guidance with behaviour, emotional regulation, and classroom engagement. This role is not based in a PRU, but within mainstream and alternative secondary settings.

The RoleAs a Behaviour Support Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping pupils aged 11‐16 overcome barriers to learning. You will:

Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs

Use calm, consistent de‐escalation strategies to manage incidents safely and effectively

Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage emotional regulation and engagement

Support pupils both in class and through targeted interventions outside of lessons

Liaise closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and SENCOs to deliver individual support plans

About YouWe're looking for someone who:

Has experience supporting young people with behavioural or emotional needs (essential)

Can drive and is comfortable travelling between schools across RCT (essential)

Remains calm, confident, and professional in challenging situations

Is proactive, patient, and committed to helping students achieve their potential

Brings transferable experience from youth work, residential care, sports coaching, or similar roles

What You'll Need

EWC registration (School Learning Support Worker category)

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)

Two recent professional references

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
