Job description
Responsibilities
Participate fully in providing quality of care in line with local and national guidelines.
Act as a role model in providing a service for people with mental health problems.
Participate in team audit projects associated with the service.
Be required to challenge practice that compromises or challenges high quality care to older people.
Advise the Team Manager of any resource shortfalls.
Support clients getting to outpatient, GP or other appointments/venues relevant to current health or social needs, as part of the individual's care plan, if agreed as part of the care plan.
Provide advice and support to clients and carers on issues related to eating disorders.
Assist in the assessment and support of carers.
Carry out other duties deemed necessary within the framework of the post as directed by qualified staff and the Team Manager.
Partake in continuing professional development that will also benefit the development and quality of the service.
Document all activity on Care Notes (PARIS), ACSIS and Outlook, and to utilise Employee Online, Online Expenses and other computerized systems.
Person SpecificationEducation & Qualifications
Essential criteria
Health care or Social Care related Diploma/NVQ level 3
Desirable criteria
Additional relevant training, e.g. Mental health, eating disorder
Experience
Essential criteria
Experience of working with people with mental health problems in either an acute or community setting
Desirable criteria
Eating disorders experience
Experience of assisting in the assessment of service users and the development and implementation of care plans
Knowledge & Skills
Essential criteria
Ability to observe and report to the MDT/Seniors in the team on clinical situations
Ability to use electronic records for example case notes
Ability to engage service users and carers in order to facilitate recovery
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Desirable criteria
Basic understanding of legal framework for mental health care
Personal Qualities
Essential criteria
Motivational, reassurance and empathetic skills
Ability to recognise own limitations
Ability to remain calm in difficult situations and with clients who may be very distressed or cognitively impaired
Ability to do the above face to face, virtually or over the phone
Ability to assess severity of a situation/presentation of service user and act to reduce risk if necessary
