Your role will involve working with our young people to promote independence through support with education, household tasks and general life skills. You will also update online care records and complete medication administration. In addition, you will be responsible for the general upkeep and tidiness of the home ensuring the young people live in homely environment.At our home in Huddersfield, you will be working with young people who have a variety of mental health diagnosis including personality disorder, those who have difficult relationships with food and those who use self-harm as a strategy to cope with their emotions. As such, you will be required to be patient and resilient as the support you will be providing to our young people will include supporting them to improve their relationship with food and managing incidents of self-harm. A number of our young people are preparing for moving on positively from Woodside into the community, therefore you will be supporting this transition through things such as: supporting them to self-administer their own medication, getting back into education, accessing public transport and appointments independently. Our young people are very adventurous and engage in a variety of activities including going to theme parks, rock climbing and go ape so there will never be a dull moment when you are on shift. The home is a 5-bed service and is located near a wooded area of Huddersfield which provides scenic local walks. It is also a short drive or bus journey away from the centre of Huddersfield and Brighouse so is close enough to numerous local amenities. The house is a picturesque, large property which is well maintained and homely, making it a lovely environment to work in. There are also huge grounds attached to the house, making it a perfect place for growing veg and playing outdoor games.Previous care experience is not essentialand full training will be provided.
