Senior Residential Support Worker Location: South Coast England Hours: 40 hours per week Salary: £31,824 £32,656

The RoleWe're looking for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join a children's residential home, supporting the management team in leading day-to-day shift operations and delivering high-quality care to young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

This is a step up from a standard support worker role. You'll be leading and mentoring a team, holding supervisory responsibilities, and playing a key part in ensuring the home meets the highest standards of care in line with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.

What You'll Be DoingLeadership and shift managementPlan, lead and manage shifts, acting as a positive role model for colleagues and young people alikeSupervise and mentor support workers, supporting their professional development and inductionSupport the Registered Manager and step up in the Deputy Manager's absenceEnsure rotas are maintained and shift cover is always in placeComplete on call duties as required (depending on experience)

Care and safeguardingKeep safeguarding at the heart of every decision and uphold child protection procedures at all timesUndertake direct care with young people as required, including keyworking sessionsWrite and update placement plans, health plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plansAdminister medication when trained and authorised to do soAttend meetings and advocate for young people as needed

Records, compliance and environmentEnsure all record keeping, daily checks and audits are completed to a high standard and within timescalesMaintain the home environment to a high standard, including household tasks, maintenance reporting and health and safetyEnsure all policies, procedures and legislation are implemented and followed by yourself and the team

RelationshipsBuild and maintain strong working relationships with local authorities, education providers, families and other professionalsPromote effective communication between the team, young people, their families and external stakeholders

What We're Looking ForEssentialRelevant Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in children and young people's servicesExperience working with children and young people, including managing challenging behavioursProven ability to lead, prioritise and manage a teamStrong written skills for documentation and record keepingFull UK driving licenceGood time management and communication skills

DesirableMinimum 12 months' experience in a children's residential settingExperience coaching, mentoring or supporting the induction of new colleaguesFlexibility around shift patternsStrong IT skills and problem-solving ability
