Job description
Ward M1 is a medically optimised ward supporting older adults 74+, with a strong focus on safe care, dignity, deconditioning and discharge planning. We work closely as a multidisciplinary team to support our patients to maintain independence and achieve the best possible outcomes. M1 is a nurse‐led, 30‐beded unit. During winter pressures or Trust escalation, the ward may expand to 40 beds. We also provide overnight care for 1 or 2 dermatology patients (any age), usually nursed in side‐rooms. Dermatology retains full clinical responsibility for these patients.
Responsibilities
Provide and support patients as necessary with both personal and clinical care activities.
Maintain accurate records of the patient's care, documenting as appropriate on the Electronic Patient Record (Cerner) in line with Trust, professional and departmental guidelines.
Observe patients and report any changes to a registered professional for review.
Report any abnormal findings directly to the registered professional in charge or doctor.
Undertake a range of basic housekeeping, stock control and administrative duties within the clinical environment.
