Pear Tree House is a residential and short breaks children's home for children and young people with learning disabilities and complex needs. We work with a broad range of complex needs including autistic spectrum conditions, moderate or severe learning difficulties, global developmental delays, specific language and communication needs, and social-emotional difficulties.Are you looking for a new role?

What you'll be workingIf you are looking for a full-time Senior Support Worker, your hours are based on a rota supporting the children and then allocated supernumerary time to support with the management of the home.

Permanent 37 hours

Every other weekend

On call responsibilities

What you'll be doingThe post holder has a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times. All staff are expected to act in accordance with safeguarding legislation, organisational policies, and statutory guidance.

Supporting our children and young people with daily activities

Effectively lead the shift by ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained at all times

Supporting with reviews of children's care plans

Ensure that all children and young people have up-to-date risk assessments and person-centred goals

Attend reviews and update children's plans as and when required with the service manager

Ensure the children and young people feel safe and are supported to thrive within the home and their educational environments

Carry out personal care

Cover all aspects of the support worker role and work closely with the children and young people, supporting the team on the floor to meet the needs of the service

Be part of the on-call team

Responsible for attending and completing all mandatory training

Administering medication (if required)

What you'll have

Strong organisational, time management, planning and communication skills

Flexible, professional, and positive approach

Level 3 NVQ or Level 3 diploma in residential childcare (England) (RQ) or be willing to work towards after probation

Proven reliability in terms of full attendance and timekeeping

Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual

Self-confidence and ability to manage challenging situations

Driving license would be preferable

Ability to address and respond to employee issues in a fair and consistent manner

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check with children's barred list.

References and background checks will be required in line with safer recruitment practices.

Ongoing safeguarding training is mandatory for all staff.
