Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only\nSalary: £20,422 - £21,111.51\nContract Term: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract - Term Time Only\nLocation: Horsham, West Sussex\nHours: 08:30 - 16:30

At Apple Orchard, we are dedicated to supporting adolescent males with complex needs stemming from early trauma. Our trauma-informed approach focuses on developing the whole person, empowering them to achieve transitional milestones and thrive.

\n\n

We are excited to invite a passionate One to One Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team! This full-time role runs Monday to Friday, from 08:30 to 16:30, during term time only. While primarily based at one site, you may also support students at local PE venues and, eventually, in college settings.

\n\nYour Responsibilities\n

As a vital member of our team, you will work closely with the Headteacher and class teachers to:

  • Embrace and implement the therapeutic approach that defines the Apple Orchard environment.
  • \n

  • Support pupils in learning effectively, both individually and in groups, by:
  • \n

      \n
    • Clarifying and explaining instructions.
    • \n

    • Ensuring pupils can effectively use provided equipment and materials.
    • \n

    • Motivating and encouraging pupils through personalized attention and support.

    \n \n

  • Assist in areas where pupils may struggle, such as speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, and handwriting.
  • \n

  • Utilize praise and constructive feedback to help pupils focus and stay engaged.
  • \n

  • Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals on Individual Personal Education Plans (PEPs).
  • \n

  • Provide additional nurture to individuals as requested by the class teacher or SENCO.
  • \n

  • Implement agreed behavior management strategies consistently and effectively.
  • \n

  • Build supportive relationships with the pupils you work with.
  • \n

  • Promote acceptance and inclusion of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), encouraging positive interactions.
  • \n

  • Monitor pupils' responses to learning activities and adapt as needed to achieve desired outcomes.

\n\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\n

To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

    \n
  • Minimum of GCSE A-C or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • \n

  • Level 3 or above Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • \n

  • Understanding of the challenges faced by students with Emotional, Behavioural, or Social needs.
  • \n

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a close-knit team.
  • \n

  • \nDesirable: Experience in a specialist educational environment.
