Health Care Support Worker

Job description

As a Health Care Support Worker, you will support the delivery of nursing care to clients within a clinical setting and/or home environment, as part of a team and under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The post holder would be responsible for leading a team of staff at Band 2 or would be delegated to work in delivering a service whereby the post holder regularly works without supervision of a qualified nurse for all or most of the shift.

Main duties of the jobThis is an ideal opportunity for a Health Care Support Worker who is seeking to broaden and utilize their range of skills and knowledge as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will participate in the delivery of skilled, autonomous care to patients.

This post involves lone working and the ability to travel independently is essential.

We would particularly welcome applications from Welsh speakers; but even if you don't speak any Welsh, or want to develop your skills, don't worry: the health board will support you with training.

Job responsibilitiesAs described above, the role involves leading and supporting a multidisciplinary team, delivering autonomous nursing care and performing patient care duties at site locations either at the clinical setting or home environment.

Person SpecificationExperience

Meets all essential criteria

Working within a multidisciplinary and multi-agency setting

Meets all desirable criteria

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

NVQ3 in Health or Social Care or equivalent demonstrable experience in a Health or Social Care setting

ECDL or equivalent level of computer skills

To be aware of the needs of the patients and their relatives/carers and have knowledge of voluntary and statutory services

Meets all essential criteria

Can demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal

Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team

Ability to manage stressful situations in selfAbility to travel between sites in a timely manner

Can explain the importance of care monitoring, audit and evaluation of fundamentals of care

Some ability to speak, read and/or write Welsh, or an eagerness to learn.

Good time management and ability to prioritise

Ability to work alone under the supervision of Clinical Lead

Able to undertake extended tasks as required by the Clinical Lead

£26,300 to £27,890 a year per annum pro rata
