Commercial Manager
Location: Hybrid Working (Midlands-based with travel to operational sites as required)
Salary: £65k + car allowance and bonus
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a leading organisation specialising in high value logistics and manufacturing. This role is ideal for a commercially minded professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, partnering with operational and business development teams to drive growth, manage risk, and maximise contract performance.
You will play a key role throughout the entire contract lifecycle, from supporting new business opportunities and bid activity through to contract negotiation, delivery support, and contract close-out. The successful candidate will provide pragmatic commercial guidance, develop robust contractual arrangements, and help ensure profitable and sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial leadership and support throughout the sales, bid, contract delivery, and renewal processes.
- Lead the drafting, negotiation, and management of customer contracts and commercial agreements.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and operational risks across customer and supplier contracts.
- Support business development teams with new business opportunities, tenders, and customer negotiations.
- Partner with operational and account management teams to maximise contract profitability and performance.
- Build strong relationships with customers and develop a deep understanding of their commercial objectives.
- Conduct ongoing reviews of contractual arrangements to ensure they accurately reflect business activity and deliver maximum commercial benefit.
- Work closely with legal colleagues to ensure contracts are robust, enforceable, and aligned with business objectives.
- Support the resolution of customer disputes, claims, and contractual issues.
- Collaborate with procurement teams on supplier negotiations and contract flow-down requirements.
- Contribute to wider business initiatives including risk management, compliance, sustainability, and governance projects.
- Promote best practice in commercial management, negotiation, and customer engagement across the organisation.
About You
You will be a commercially astute professional with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills, capable of operating effectively within a complex and dynamic business environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering commercial support within a complex business environment, ideally within logistics, supply chain, transport, manufacturing, or related sectors.
- Strong commercial acumen and experience negotiating high-value customer and supplier contracts.
- Sound understanding of commercial and operational risk management.
- Good knowledge of contract law and common commercial contract terms.
- Experience supporting bids, tenders, and business development activities.
- Strong financial awareness with an understanding of contract profitability and commercial performance drivers.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Ability to develop practical and commercially balanced solutions to complex issues.
