Junior Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a motivated Junior Electrical Design Engineer to join a busy building services consultancy team. This role offers hands-on experience across building consultancy and design projects, working alongside senior engineers to develop practical skills in electrical systems design, site surveys, technical drawing production, and report preparation.

Key responsibilities
- Assist with electrical building services design for residential, commercial and public sector projects
- Support and conduct site surveys, record findings and produce survey reports
- Produce technical drawings and schematic layouts using CAD/Revit (or similar) under senior guidance
- Contribute to consultancy reports, calculations and specification documents
- Ensure designs and documentation comply with relevant electrical design standards and building regulations (BS/IEC)
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, clients and contractors to progress projects
- Maintain accurate project records and support project administration tasks

Essential skills and experience
- Exposure to building consultancy or design within construction/building services (work placement, graduate role, or up to 2 years experience)
- Basic knowledge of electrical design standards and building regulations (BS/IEC) and an eagerness to develop this further
- Ability to assist with surveys, prepare technical drawings and contribute to consultancy reports
- Good written and verbal communication skills and a professional approach to client-facing tasks
- Competent IT skills (MS Office); experience with CAD or Revit is desirable but not essential

Qualifications and personal attributes
- Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong attention to detail, organised and able to manage multiple tasks
- Keen to learn, take direction and grow technical and consultancy skills
