Housing Accommodation Officer (Temporary Accommodation)Location: Maidenhead (SL6) + Site Visits (Slough, Maidenhead, Windsor)
Contract: 3 Months (subject to extension)
Pay Rate: £20 PAYE / £28 Umbrella per hour
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm (37 hours per week)
Travel: Mileage paid from Maidenhead office to sites and back
Working Pattern- Hybrid working model:
- 2 days per week conducting site visits (property inspections/audits)
- 1–2 days per week office-based in Maidenhead (SL6)
- Remaining days working from home
We are recruiting for a Housing Accommodation Officer to support the delivery of a high-quality temporary accommodation service. You will play a key role in ensuring properties meet required standards, supporting placements, and maintaining accurate records while helping to manage costs effectively.
This is a varied and fast-paced role, ideal for someone organised, proactive, and confident managing multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out inspections of temporary accommodation properties (new and existing) to ensure suitability and compliance
- Coordinate and manage placements into temporary accommodation
- Maintain accurate property and customer records, including placements and cessations
- Set up and manage accommodation charge accounts, including monitoring and chasing arrears
- Work closely with internal teams (Housing, Benefits, Environmental Health) and external providers
- Support cost control and value for money across the temporary accommodation service
- Assist with reporting, data analysis, and performance monitoring
Essential:
- Valid UK driving licence
- Access to own vehicle with business insurance
- Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask effectively
- Proactive and able to work independently
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Basic IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to manage workload in a busy, customer-focused environment
Desirable:
- Experience within housing, homelessness, or temporary accommodation services
- Knowledge of housing legislation and processes

- Able to remain calm and professional under pressure
- A strong team player with a flexible approach to work
- Basic DBS check required
- Travel across the borough required as part of the role
- Mileage reimbursed for site visits (from office base only)
