Job description

Job Overview
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic doctors who are interested in a long‐term career in General and Colorectal Surgery. The appointee will be offered a rotation to various specialties of General and Colorectal Surgery. Ysbyty Gwynedd has a recognised training programme at all levels of surgical training; although not part of the National Core Training scheme, the appointee will receive similar training opportunities. Fellows can enhance their CV and be recruited through the National Training Programme. The post holder will be encouraged to attend MRCS teaching, research, audit and basic surgical courses, and will have an educational and clinical supervisor. The programme is also suitable for non‐UK graduates who hold GMC registration with a licence to practise.

Main Duties
The post holder will be accountable to a team of two Consultant Surgeons and will have duties as deemed appropriate by the consultant. The daily smooth running of the ward will be the responsibility of the fellow. The post holder will take part in the on‐call rota (currently 1 in 10). The fellow will be involved in multidisciplinary team meetings and other clinical meetings. Participation in teaching duties, clinical audit and research is expected as time allows. The post holder reports to the Clinical Director (Surgery) through the Lead Clinicians in General Surgery and day‐to‐day to the consultant to whom the fellow is attached at that time.
