Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Hospital Porter to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of patients, equipment, and supplies within the hospital premises. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to patient care and hospital operations in a supportive and professional environment. The role involves working in a busy healthcare setting, requiring excellent organisational skills and a commitment to safety and hygiene standards.

Duties

  • Safely transport patients between wards, departments, and external locations as required, ensuring comfort and dignity at all times.
  • Assist with the movement of medical equipment, supplies, and documentation across hospital areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in designated areas, including cleaning trolleys and storage spaces.
  • Support hospital staff with logistical tasks such as setting up rooms for procedures or meetings.
  • Respond promptly to urgent requests for patient transfers or equipment movement.
  • Ensure all movements are conducted in accordance with health and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
  • Keep accurate records of transported items or patients as necessary.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment or similar logistical role is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Good communication skills to liaise professionally with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical fitness to handle the demands of lifting, pushing, or pulling equipment or patients safely.
  • A valid basic life support (BLS) certification is advantageous but not mandatory; training can be provided.
  • A clear understanding of health and safety procedures relevant to hospital operations.
