Part Time Preceptorship or 8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist
Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Closing date: 03 July 2026

We are looking for a psychologist to work with adults experiencing severe and enduring mental health difficulties in a community mental health team.

Main duties of the job

Provide specialist psychological assessment and one‐to‐one and group interventions to clients with severe and enduring mental health issues.

Support the development and implementation of systemic interventions, including reflective practice groups, psychology consultations, teaching and training, and brief interventions for carers and families.

Utilise opportunities for reflection and the continuing development of your own skills.

Work within professional guidelines and the overall framework of MPFT's policies and procedures.

Adhere to relevant Trust policies and professional ethics.

Employ research skills for audit, policy, service evaluation and development, and research.

Collaborate with inpatients, outpatients, primary care staff, secondary mental health services, and third sector organisations as required.

Person Specification

Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology.

Significant post‐qualification experience of specialist psychological assessment and individual/group treatment of clients with complex difficulties across adult secondary and/or tertiary care settings (for the 8a post).

Experience of working in Adult Secondary Mental Health services (for the Preceptorship).

Additional qualifications in an accredited therapy (preferred).

Experience working with clients with personality difficulties, complex trauma, psychosis, or comorbid substance misuse issues.

Experience and/or training in providing supervision.
